Sun Conference Back in Session: SMU Men's Swimming and Diving Takes Home Grand Title

The sun was shining bright as the SMU men's swimming and diving team took home the grand title at the Atlantic Sun Championship, marking their 45th conference title as a program. This is also the fourth consecutive title under the leadership of head coach Greg Rhodenbaugh.

The championship came to an exciting close with the A relay team of Kovac, Butler, Mykkanen, and Sungail setting a new school, conference, and meet record with a time of 2:50.71 in the 400 free relay. This impressive feat solidified the Mustangs' dominance in the competition.

Kristaps Mikelsons was another standout performer, taking home gold in both the 100 breaststroke and the 200 breaststroke events. His impressive times of 1:54.90 and 1:57.24 respectively earned him B standard times.

Other notable performances came from Jack Hoagland, who set a new meet record in the 1650 free event with a time of 14:54.77. Tyler Coffey and John Dymond also made their mark on the competition, taking home titles in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

The championship was filled with many impressive feats, including Jack Easton's B standard time of 47.36 in the 100 backstroke event. Lance Butler also impressed, posting a B standard time of 43.22 to take bronze in the 200 backstroke event.

This impressive performance by the SMU men's swimming and diving team marks another successful year for the program under head coach Greg Rhodenbaugh. With their fourth consecutive title, it is clear that this team has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
